With over a dozen albums to his credit since his Narada debut in 1984, David Lanz has reached music lovers around the world with his extraordinary melodies, his tender romantic playing and the spiritual depth of his music.
Raised in Seattle, Lanz learned to play a number of different styles while still in high school including jazz, blues, rock and roll, pop and classical music. For many years, he worked in a variety of local clubs both as a band member and soloist. Asked by a friend to compose music to accompany a seminar on the body's spiritual energy, Lanz took a simple approach to solo piano that became the basis for his first Narada album,
HEARTSOUNDS (1984). He went on to create a body of work which established the piano as one of the dominant voices in contemporary instrumental music. His album
CRISTOFORI'S DREAM (1988) was No. 1 on Billboard magazine's first adult alternative / new age chart, staying at the top spot for 27 straight weeks. At the same time, he has maintained a healthy perspective on his success -- at his concerts audiences are touched by his genuine warmth and sense of humor.
Through the years, Lanz has given back to the community, contributing his talents to a number of worthy causes including a solo benefit concert for the
National Coalition for the Homeless at New York's Lincoln Center in 1995. He was also a featured performer at opening ceremonies for the 1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle seen live by 72,000 and on television in over 120 countries. Through all his accomplishments including a Gold record for CRISTOFORI'S DREAM in 1993, millions of records sold and critically acclaimed concert tours, Lanz has remained true to his inner vision. A vision of creating beautiful, profound music that invites each listener to a place of healing, rejuvenation and peace.
